The number of older adults in the United States is rapidly increasing as the baby boomer generation ages. Advancing age is the major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. The Vascular Physiology Laboratory is interested in understanding how arteries and capillaries change with advancing age and how these changes lead to increased disease risk. We are also exploring interventions that could prevent or slow the onset of vascular disease in older age.
