I am Mackenzie Kehmeier! I received my bachelor’s in Exercise Sports Science and my master’s in High Altitude Exercise Physiology at Western Colorado University in Gunnison, CO. I am specifically interested in apolipoprotein E, estrogen deficiency, and their specific interactions on the vasculature and how that influences Alzheimer’s Disease. Other interests include lipids/cholesterol and how they contribute to vascular dysfunction and how vascular dysfunction contributes to a variety of chronic diseases. Following the onset of these diseases, I am also interested in how we can use personalized exercise and environmental stressors as preventative medicine to help combat these diseases. Outside the lab and learning, I enjoy hiking and exploring the outdoors as well as fly fishing and rock climbing!
